What does every company have in common, from the smaller startup to the multi-trillion dollar global organization? Leadership! While some organizations have better leaders than others, good leadership comes down to critical characteristics that develop over time, taught by compassionate leaders or peers or even from previous leaders' failures. Now, what happens when you don't have the time it takes to allow team members to slowly grow and develop into fully supportive and outstanding leaders? You create and provide them with Leadership Development training! Leadership Development might have looked utterly different from every company I've worked with, but they all typically revolved around a few main points. Communication • Handling/Resolving Conflict • Communication • Time Management • Communication. For those who prefer the TLDR format, without Communication skills, your life as a leader will be a painful one...

Peak Leadership Development
During my professional journey, I've had the privilege to not only participate in but also create and host unique Leadership Development classes for various companies. Today, I'd like to shed light on two such programs, Peak Leadership Development and The Edge of Success Leadership Development (yes, the same name as my Podcast, The Edge of Success!). These programs, though no longer in use since my departure, were distinct in their approach and content.
For Peak, the challenge was to prepare a short series of Leadership Development focus training courses so team members from across the US could take them and ideally use the content to build better environments for their staff. The main topics were EQ (Emotional intelligence), DiSC, Communication and feedback, and Adaptive Leadership. These mandatory classes (for every assistant manager and above) gave new team members the skills to help develop their leadership style without the pain of learning each step from failure. They provided seasoned leaders with a refresher course, reminding them of their impact on the future generational workforce. This program ran successfully for 5 years with thousands of students nationwide.

The Edge of Success Leadership Development
The class inspired my Podcast, which launched a few years later. The Edge of Success: Leadership Development class invited upcoming, new, and current leaders in Saladmaster Dealerships worldwide. The 3-Day program provided a refreshing breakdown on how to build an effective communication strategy, pushed emotional intelligence with a focus on leading with empathy and understanding, and included a lot of fun interactive games that challenged their opinions, encouraged collaboration, and left them with a deeper understanding that just because you're a leader doesn't mean you can't have fun with your team.
